"I.S.I.S. Responds to a Vital Need!"
I.S.I.S. Responds to a Vital Need:
Through our Web-site, Jillian McKee, a representative of The Mesothelioma Foundation, contacted us to inquire about our Hypnotherapy resources, as apparently more and more studies have been highlighting the incredible benefits that hypnosis has to offer those battling various forms of cancer. And because of this, the Foundation now features available information, including a nation-wide directory on their web-site for patients and their families who are seeking qualified Hypnotherapists in their areas.
And for those who are not too familiar with this particular form of cancer; it occurs primarily in the linings of the lungs and abdomen, as well as within the heart, due to over-exposure to asbestos for a long period of time. For further information regarding this disease and its various types of treatment and management, there is an excellent article appearing on their web-site: Mesothelioma.com
Although complementary therapies such as hypnosis had not been given the attention that more traditional
ones had received, they have more recently become more accepted by physicians as being equally important. In fact, many hypnotists are now integrating the healing effects of Music and/or Color,
Furthermore, as the symptoms and effects of the cancer itself on the body are often negligible compared
to the pain, nausea and other adverse side effects associated with chemotherapy and radiation, often being
used for cancers such as Mesothelioma that cannot be removed surgically. However, these therapies also
profoundly affect the health of the surrounding tissue. But through the use of hypnosis, some of the specific
techniques utilized in pain control and management include altering the neurophysical configurations of pain, control of antidipatory anxiety, and targeted imagery.
And although Hypnotherapy techniques may not be appropriate for all patient's pain and other individual symptoms, it is certainly worth exploring as it can do very little harm in experimenting with integrative therapies, and can assist in helping patients recover and manage symptoms of chemotherapy and radiation; then it will have contributed to the treatment regimens overall efficacy and should certainly be utilized.
And in closing, on behalf of the membership, I want to congratulate those of the Foundation for their dedication in this vital need, and for the privilege to be of service in this manner.
In Divine Love and Fellowship,
Rev. Dr. Helane V. Baldwin, R.N., Ph.D.
